Welcome to the Savoury Starving Student, a blog dedicated to showing people food does not need to be expensive or complicated to be delicious.
The blog first came to life during my undergraduate studies at Carleton University. As a journalism student, I saw that many of my classmates felt that they were too busy to make anything for dinner beyond a box of Kraft Dinner. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with a box of KD once and a while (I still love the stuff), I thought it would be helpful to compile recipes that don’t break the bank and don’t require any fancy equipment to produce.
Since graduating from journalism school, I have moved on to Vancouver, British Columbia where I’m studying at the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia. Law school is even busier than journalism school and I welcome the challenge of showing a new batch of classmates that food can be delicious, easy and cheap.

Hey Gord!
I was in class at Carleton U last week and overheard two girls behind me raving about your food blog, so I jotted down the name and thought I’d check it out. It’s awesome – love your recipes!! Feel free to check out mine, still in progress. It’s a website/blog combo on food and travel. I’ll be sure to try out your recipes this year. Keep posting!
P.s. there are a few spelling/grammar errors in your ‘about’ section that I tripped over when reading, just to note.. Cheers!
